Warmer Holidays for Those In Need!

With the holiday season fast upon us, BOSS is asking our entire community for support to ensure that everyone will have a happy, healthy, safe, warm and enjoyable 2015 holiday season!

At BOSS, we are so grateful for our volunteers, our donors, and our community of support. But we need your continued – and increased – help in the next few weeks for those who are working hard to turn their lives around, and who still want to have festive holidays with loved ones. The wintertime is always hard for people without homes, particularly this year with the El Nino rains coming – it will be dangerous for our homeless neighbors living on the streets.

If you would like to give this Holiday Season, please click here. Here are some other ways to give during November & December:

Giving Tuesday: This Giving Tuesday is December 1st, the 1st Tuesday after Thanksgiving, a global day of giving. This year on Giving Tuesday, it’s give a gift, and get a gift – courtesy of the Oakland Athletics! Donate any size gift online on Giving Tuesday or bring it in person to 1918 University Ave., Ste. 2A. Thank you!

Gift Card Santas: Become a BOSS “Gift Card Santa” and donate gift cards in any amount. Consider a donation drive at your office or place of worship, and add BOSS to your holiday list when buying gift cards for friends and family. Gift cards are great for BOSS – particularly because our participants can use them all year long, and one size fits all! Suggested stores: Target, Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, or Starbucks. Download the flyer and share!

Items to meet basic needs: Donate items our homeless need: new socks, trial-size toiletries, towels, linens, umbrellas, and waterproof ponchos to our homeless. Contact Gwen at (510) 649-1930, ext. 1001. Please all first before dropping items off!

Adopt A Family: If you are interested in adopting one or more families with donations of gifts and holiday supplies, contact Gwen and she’ll match you with a family(ies)! A great way to become connected to BOSS, and give back!

End-of-year giving: Consider an end-of-the year gift to BOSS. If you are an existing donor, consider increasing your amount from last year. Remember, tax-deductible donations for 2015 must be made before Dec. 31, 2015. BOSS is a registered 501(c)3 charity. Our tax EIN is 51-0173390. We are incredibly thankful for your contribution, which helps families and adults Turn Lives Around on their way to self-sufficiency!

From all of us here at Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency, we wish you the best and happiest holidays ever, and thank you!
