With warm and heart-felt gratitude to everyone who voted, we are ecstatic to announce that BOSS won the recent IKEA Life Improvement Challenge, and will receive a facility makeover for our McKinley Family Transitional House in Berkeley!
Between February 16th through March 2nd, BOSS asked donors, volunteers, supporters, and everyone we spoke with to please vote for BOSS on the IKEA website link. Three organizations sponsored by the Emeryville store were seeking votes, and the agency that received the most would receive a facility makeover valued at $10,000 – though each participating agency would receive something. We are so excited to share that BOSS received the most votes – thanks to our community!
An IKEA team including an interior designer will be contacting BOSS in the coming weeks to visit the site and see what our most pressing needs are. We look forward to taking this opportunity to create surroundings at McKinley House for homeless children and families that is functional, inviting and well-designed — a place where families feel welcome and comfortable as they rebuild their lives. When the renovation is complete, we will organize an Open House and share pictures.
Stay tuned – and thank you!!!
