The Housing Navigation Team provides mobile assistance, services on-site in BOSS programs, and services in the field to help BOSS participants secure permanent affordable housing as rapidly as possible.
Need information on housing? Call the Hub if in Berkeley (1-866-960-2132) or ACCESS at the County if disabled (800-491-9099) or 211 for information on programs, available services, and to determine eligibility to appropriate programs. BOSS is unable to take walk-ins for shelter space.
A highly skilled and trained team of Housing Navigators provides needs assessments, housing education and access to listings, advocacy with landlords, help filling out housing applications, connection to subsidies as available, and case management to facilitate a successful transition to housing. The team understands the intertwined issues facing individuals and families in deep poverty, including inadequate incomes and job skills, domestic or community violence, family separation, health and mental health issues and more, and makes appropriate referrals – both inside BOSS and in the larger community – to help people meet those needs. The primary focus of the team is on helping people secure and move into housing.
