Second Chances – A World Full of Meaning in Just Two Words

At the core of second chances lies the belief in forgiveness, redemption, and the power of the human spirit - the belief that every individual deserves a chance to redeem themselves, start afresh, and pursue their dreams with renewed vigor.

For anyone who has made mistakes in their personal or professional life or experienced setbacks and failures, the idea of second chances reminds us that our past does not define us.

And second chances are not just limited to individuals but also extend to organizations, communities, and society, whose mistakes include climate change, social injustice, and economic inequality. Second chances can help us acknowledge these mistakes and work towards a more sustainable and equitable future - bridging the divide between groups and create a more inclusive and cohesive society.

The Power of Second Chances: Steven's Story

One powerful example of the transformative power of second chances is the story of Steven Hua, BOSS Shelter Network Manager. Steven's journey has not been an easy one. As a teenager, he made a mistake that led to a life sentence. Despite this setback, Steven never gave up hope for a second chance.

Fortunately, Steven was given that chance. BOSS gave him the support he needed to rebuild his life and become a productive member of society.

Steven's story is a testament to the importance of second chances. It shows that everyone deserves a chance to redeem themselves, start anew, and pursue their dreams. It also highlights the role that organizations like BOSS can play in helping people overcome past mistakes and rebuild their lives.

Steven Hua is the epitome of, "Healthy Healing" - representing the mission of BOSS through action, service & commitment. As a result of Steven's undeniable passion, he was asked to speak at Columbia University in Harlem in the 'Beyond the Bar' discussion - 'CHALLENGING CARCERAL REENTRY HOUSING SYSTEM AND THINKING'
