Oakland's New Affordable Housing Initiative


This Tuesday, the City of Oakland make important progress in the fight against housing inequality with the opening of The Black Panther, an entirely affordable housing complex specifically designed for low-income and returning citizens.


Oakland-based real estate developer and former Black Panther Party Chairman Elaine Brown helped obtain the $80 million required to fund a new affordable housing project to help combat high rental prices and homelessness in Oakland.


We had to fight for everything, and this I hope will generate one thing: to fight for what we believe we are deserving of.
