Ability to work with a diverse group of people, calm and effective in busy and stressful settings, willingness to learn about BOSS’s participants, community resources, and program protocols. All Volunteers must obtain a Negative TB Test prior to volunteering.

The Multi-Agency Service Center (MASC) is BOSS’s main ‘point of entry’ into BOSS programs. It offers showers, a small computer lab, amenities, and information about all of BOSS housing, health, employment, and education programs, as well as other resources that are available in the community. At some times it is a busy hub of activity – at other times it is a quiet oasis of rest for homeless people with nowhere else to go during the day.

Volunteers are needed to help in different ways:

  • Helping staff with greeting and checking people in on busy days
  • Organizing special activities (workshops, groups, games, etc.)
  • Teaching life skills classes or computer skills
  • Providing health screenings and/or health education
  • Helping with administrative and other program support

This volunteer role works on the front lines of helping the chronically homeless. You can really make a difference in someone’s life, just by reminding them that the community cares.

Requirements: Volunteers in BOSS must be over 18, unless you are part of a school group and are chaperoned, or are conducting an off-site collection or drive.

Thank you for your generous spirit and desire to make a difference!
