The BOSS Career Training & Employment Center (CTEC) has a mission to help individuals find their bliss and turn a job into a life-changing career. We collaborate on resume writing, online job searching and applications, interview skills, work ready clothes, and now, monthly job fairs!
Starting in October of 2016, we have hosted six career fairs to date and in that time we have had numerous employers, hundreds job seekers, nearly 100 interviews (both on-site, and scheduled), and several dozen hires!
This is not your typical job fair! We offer job readiness preparation, assistance in acquiring critical documents (such as social security cards and state-issued identification cards), resume writing, mock interviews, on site barber services, and appropriate interview attire! The best part? These events are fully open to the public. Anyone looking for employment, or just some job seeking pointers are welcome to attend. And many of the employers are “Second Chance” employers — organizations who are aware of the issues often present in our community including past criminality, long breaks in employment, as well as a history of addiction and/or homelessness.
The CTEC program works closely with the Alameda County Probation Department, Oakland Unite, and the Reclaiming Our Communities (ROC) programs to provide coordinated programs for life-changing careers to residents of Oakland. Our employer partners for these job fairs have included Greyhound Bus Lines, Ford GoBike, East Bay Community Recovery Project, WIS International, Balance Staffing, UPS, Home Care Assistance in Tracy & Modesto, Hansel Phelps, Redwood Resources, and many many others! If you want to partner with the BOSS CTEC program or if you are looking for job placement assistance, please reach out to our CTEC Team today!
