Please join us for a very special movie screening of the new documentary focused on the challenges of former inmates returning to their home communities, Beyond The Wall:
Tuesday, November 7th, 4:00 pm
Oakland Museum, 1000 Oak Street in Oakland
Beyond The Wall, by award winning documentary filmmakers Bestor Cram, Jenny Phillips and Andrew Kukura, follows five formerly incarcerated men who are attempting to rebuild their lives on the outside with little support from our criminal justice system. Their stories revolve around one central figure, a former prisoner named Louie Diaz, who works with each man to help him maintain his sobriety and his freedom. Through compelling and intimate scenes, the film vividly captures the struggle for survival outside prison walls.
The Oakland screening is in partnership with Alameda County Probation and Successful Reentry, LLC. A conversation with Director/Producer Jenny Phillips and central film subject Louie Diaz will follow the film. Tim Smith, BOSS Director of Reentry Strategy Partnership will also be on the panel.
