HOURLY – $21.63/hr

The mission of BOSS is to help homeless, poor, and disabled people achieve health and self-sufficiency, and to fight against the root causes of poverty and homelessness. The organization was founded in 1971 by a group of volunteers from the Hillel Streetwork Project in Berkeley who responded to the needs of mentally ill individuals being released to the streets by state hospital closures. Today BOSS is an award- winning organization that helps people who are facing deep poverty and multiple special needs. BOSS works one-on-one with each family and each individual to help them achieve stable income, permanent affordable housing, and lasting wellness.


Job Responsibilities:

The CNA will work in one of BOSS interim housing shelter programs in Oakland, Hayward or Berkeley and be responsible to help the consumer meet their daily needs and without this service alone. This service includes:

  • Assesses, monitors and supervises individuals to ensure their health, safety and welfare
  • Assists individuals with activities of daily living skills
  • Self-administered medications
  • Performs household services and both heavy and light cleaning tasks
  • Independently performs basic medical procedures, including taking blood pressures and temperatures.
  • Documents all services provided to the consumer

Requirements:To be considered for a CNA position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to assist consumer to physically transfer from chair to bed, toilet, vehicle, tub, etc. as
  • needed
  • High school degree
  • State Nursing Assistant Certificate from the State licensing board
  • CPR Certification preferred
