2017 Rising Stars Youth Leadership Gala

Please join BOSS for the 2017 Rising Stars Youth Leadership Gala as BOSS, in partnership with Berkeley High School, Berkeley Technology Academy, and Berkeley Youth Alternatives, celebrates a group of local youth who are overcoming the odds stacked against them and are leaders in their communities, the force that holds their families together, our next generation of high school and college gradates, and agents of change!

The event will be held at the beautiful and historic Hotel Shattuck Plaza in downtown Berkeley, and will include:

  • Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble and other live music
  • Delicious dinner catered by Five Restaurant!
  • Silent auction – bid now online!
  • Remarks from State Senator Nancy Skinner
  • Keynote speaker Berkeley Mayor Jessie Arreguin
  • Youth Keynote speaker Thomas Jones, 2016 Rising Stars Awardee
  • Presentation of Class of 2017 Rising Stars
  • Four educational scholarship awards
  • Fun, inspiration, and an unforgettable night for youth, their families, and the community that wants them to achieve their dreams!!

    I’d like to support this event. But, please tell me what happens at this event? There is no explanation of what actually happens: Are their speeches, performances, or is it a big party? Thank you!

      All of the above! We have musical and/or spoken word performances, speeches, awards, scholarship presentations, gifts bags, and a shared meal! Friends and family are often in attendance to show support as well. It is a powerful and amazing event!
