BOSS staff pens op-ed on Dogtown Redemption documentary

BOSS Director of Business Enterprise Tes Ikharo is deeply immersed in the work of researching, planning, and creating a business enterprise for BOSS that will both create living wage jobs for low income workers, and raise revenue for BOSS programs. Thus the subject of the documentary, Dogtown Redemption, holds special significance, as it describes the story of “an underclass of shopping cart recyclers and poor entrepreneurs” struggling to earn a living in West Oakland despite neighborhood controversy.

Alliance Metals is planning to shut down the recycling center unless community support can intervene and find alternate solutions. BOSS believes those solutions are possible. Please read Tes’s article in Street Spirit, and learn more about this important film here, including local viewings!
