BOSS, EBALDC and EBHO address Resident Leadership Council

Raising awareness!

On Wednesday, September 26th members of the Resident Leadership Council for East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) gathered at Jack London Gateway Senior Housing to learn about the root causes of the housing crisis and how to be part of the solution.

Speakers from EBALDC’s Real Estate Development department shared information on affordable housing development and regional housing production, as well as demographic data on who’s impacted by the crisis.

BOSS’s Todd Bertani, Program Manager at Ursula Sherman Village (BOSS’s largest housing program, located in West Berkeley), spoke on the causes of homelessness, the availability of shelters and transitional housing, and how to find resources for those in need.

Lastly, Dolores Tejada, East Bay Housing Organization’s (EBHO) Lead Organizer, shared information on city- and statewide housing policy initiatives and ways to be involved with local advocacy work.

Thank you to EBALDC and to Meg Heisler for organizing this great opportunity to bring consumers together with advocates and service providers, for raising awareness and Q&A!
