Congratulations to BOSS Board Member Marlene Hurd for her recent selection as a 2014-2015 Women’s Policy Institute Fellow! Along with serving on BOSS’s Board of Directors, Marlene is also a Board Member of the Oakland Housing Authority and Program Director at Healthy Communities Inc.
Through the Women’s Policy Institute (WPI), Marlene and other 2014-2015 Fellows will engage in a year-long program of training retreats in Sacramento, learning how to successfully navigate the labyrinth of Sacramento. During the program, women work in teams to develop and implement specific policy advocacy projects of their choosing with a mentor who is experienced in public policy work. Marlene’s selection was highlighted in the San Francisco Business Times!
The WPI brings women’s voices, leadership and expertise to the legislative process to increase the number of policies that address the needs of low-income women and families.
We are very proud of Marlene for this honor and exciting opportunity, and know she will bring invaluable wisdom and energy to the project!
