Saturday, October 17th was the Second Annual Pizzafest. It’s like an Octoberfest event, only improved with the addition of pizza!
Pizza, however, isn’t the only thing that makes this event special. It is a fundraising event organized by The Companion Group to promote their pizza-making equipment while raising funds for a good cause—BOSS!
The event was a great opportunity to raise awareness about issues faced by individuals and families experiencing homelessness, and all proceeds from the event went to support BOSS’s Children’s Learning Center (CLC) – a safe and educational place for homeless children.
Nick, from The Companion Group, estimated that there were 730 pizzas made during the event. “With 8 slices each, that’s nearly 6,000 slices of pizza!” There were 11 teams competing for bragging rights – “Life of Pie”, who were defending their title from last year, won again!
There were approximately 600 attendees, a few hundred raffle tickets, and many cups of beer sold. All told, the event raised just over $8,500 — exceeding last year’s event by more than $500!
“We are already looking forward to next year’s 3rd Annual Pizzafest,” said BOSS Executive Director, Donald Frazier, “This is such a fun community event, and we are so happy to be a part of it.”
A huge heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone at The Companion Group, and to everyone who came out and joined the party!
